I would like to tell about an special Orphanage. I hereby call it as ashram. It doesn't have any name, no sign boards, no publicity, no funds from outside. But still manages to take care around 25 children.
Person who is looking after children is around 50 years of age, his name is Mallikarjunappa. We call him Anna.
His only money plant is his part time editor job for local newspaper and from his rented houses. There are several reasons why he don't opt for help from organisation and keeping a name plate for ashram.
Ashram is located in Narasapura, Kolar, area for ashram is about 1.5 hectare. It has 3 houses. 1 a small hut where actually ashram started. Another newly constructed may be 20X15, where kitchen and dinning hall is there and another around 15X12 room where all children read and sleep (yes its cramped).
All children go to nearby government school, its a walk of around 4 km. And special thanks to Government for its Mid Day meal scheme. School uniforms are provided by school.
It is very difficult to see the situation, but even then Anna doesn't ask for money. He only tells us "if at all u would like to help children then bring them what they need but don't give us money".
In our first visit, we gave a bag of rice, daily groceries, mugs, bed sheets, games ......
In second visit we gave them daily groceries, and it was diwali time so gave them fireworks.....
In third visit we had to sponsor some money around 20k for toilet construction which had stopped due to lack of money with him. Also we had great time playing games with children.
To support monthly expenditures we are also sponsoring money monthly.
If any one interested to help these children, please make some time to visit ashram and donate something. Their best wishes will be with you.
